1 Overview
Allette is committed to maintaining the privacy (of personal information) and security of all personal information in compliance with the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) contained in the Privacy Act 1988 (the Privacy Act).
The APPs govern how to collect, use, disclose, store, secure, and dispose of personal information.

2 Personal information
Personal Information, for the purposes of this policy, and as defined by the Privacy Act, means facts, or opinions, about an identifiable individual regardless of:
- Whether the information or opinion is true or not.
- Whether the information or opinion is recorded in a material form or not.
Examples of personal information include: name, address, academic history, email address, and phone number of a person.
3 Consent
Consent refers to the voluntary and informed agreement given by an individual for the processing of their personal information. This consent should be clear, specific, and unambiguous.
To obtain consent, Allette undertakes the following:
- Provides clear and easily understandable information about why we need the information, how we will use it, and who will have access to it.
- Ensures that consent is freely given and is a genuine choice.
- Maintains records of when and how consent was obtained.
- Informs individuals that they have the right to withdraw their consent at any time.
- Periodically reviews and refreshes consents.
4 Reasons to collect, retain, use, and disclose personal information
The only reasons Allette collect, hold, use, and disclose personal information are for the purpose of conducting business functions and activities.
Without this information, it might be impossible to deliver information, grant access to a system, or provide technical assistance. Other reasons might include the following:
- Product registration or activation.
- Verify or grant authority to an individual.
- Allocate access codes, API keys, or related access details.
- Accept payment, provide invoices, or refunds.
- Provide technical support, monitoring, or alerting.
- Tracking or improving our product and service.
- Provide services to customers.
The collection of any third party personal information, for example, other authorised users, customers, or customer employees, must have the consent of each individual.
5 When is personal information collected?
Allette most commonly collects personal information in these instances:
- People purchase, register, or install our products.
- People use our technical support or consulting services.
- People grant access to their database and systems for the purpose of Allette providing technical support or consulting services.
Other ways that engaging with Allette might cause the collection of personal information are:
- Through normal communications such as email, correspondence, telephone, or business card.
- By attending public functions, events, seminars, roadshows, conferences, or training.
- Entering competitions.
- Visiting the Allette website.
- Participating in forums or posting on social media in relation to our products.
6 Information accuracy
Personal Information will be kept accurate, complete, up to date, and reliable for its intended use.
Allette will periodically review and update all relevant records for accuracy and completeness.
7 Use and disclosure of personal information
The use of personal information will only be for the purpose for which it was provided and consented to.
The use of personal information is in accordance with the Privacy Act, including in the following ways:
- To allow communication.
- To record the purchase of products or services.
- To promote updates or additions to our range of products and services.
- To respond to enquiries.
Most communication will be by email, and the opportunity to opt out will always be available.
The disclosure of information in accordance with the Privacy Act will be under the following circumstances:
- Consent has been provided.
- It would be reasonable to expect contact.
- The law requires or authorises contact.

The Privacy Act provides the right for people to access the personal information held about them and to correct or update it.
Anyone wishing to access or update their personal information, please contact Allette in writing (see below).
There will not be any fee for this request to access data.
Accessing personal information will require proof of identification.

10 Policy review
The security of personal information is an ongoing concern for Allette, requiring a commitment to proactive management and planning. To maintain the highest possible levels, triggers for the review will be:
- Any revision to internal policies or procedures affecting the integrity of this policy.
- Automatically, after twelve months without a review.
