Few web-based solutions do much to recognize what seem to be regarded as relics of a bygone era. This might be because, even with advanced desktop tools, building a bibliography is not necessarily easy.

Still, for those that can appreciate the discipline that formal publishing imposes, these concepts are critical to quality documents. Indeed, while Wikipedia doesn’t represent their objects in the same format as paper output, the logic of their citations is the same as that expected of all serious reference material.
